On Monday, a significant disruption affected thousands of Microsoft 365 users globally, leading to widespread issues with key services such as Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint. Users reported experiencing a range of problems, including difficulties in accessing their emails, loading their calendars, and launching various applications within the Microsoft 365 suite.

The situation prompted many to voice their frustrations on social media platforms and websites like Downdetector, where they shared their experiences and sought information about the ongoing outages.

In response to the growing concerns, Microsoft quickly acknowledged the situation, specifically highlighting challenges related to Exchange Online and the calendar functionalities within Microsoft Teams.

The company traced the disruption back to a recent change they had implemented and began efforts to revert it. By noon Eastern Time, Microsoft had rolled out a fix that had reached approximately 98% of the affected environments.

However, they cautioned that the process of executing targeted restarts for the remaining users was progressing more slowly than expected. As the day continued, Downdetector still reflected a high volume of outage reports, particularly from users relying on Outlook.
