Star Health has initiated legal action against Telegram, a hacker, and Cloudflare, alleging that they are responsible for the unauthorized dissemination of personal information and medical records belonging to policyholders through chatbots on the Telegram platform.

In response to this serious breach, a Tamil Nadu court has issued a temporary injunction mandating that both Telegram and the hacker take immediate steps to prevent any chatbots or websites within India from making this sensitive data accessible online.

The compromised information encompasses a range of personal details, including policy numbers, names, addresses, and medical reports, with some of the documents being as recent as July 2024.

This incident has intensified global scrutiny of Telegram, particularly in light of the recent arrest of its founder, Pavel Durov, in France, raising concerns about the platform’s security measures and data protection practices.
