What Are the Main Cyber Threats to Educational Institutions

The frequency of cyberattacks on Indian educational institutions has reached alarming levels, with reports indicating that these organizations endure more than 8,000 attacks each week, a figure that is more than twice the global average.

This surge in cyber threats is not limited to the education sector; other industries such as healthcare, government, and consulting are also grappling with significant vulnerabilities.

The transition to remote learning necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic has further expanded the digital presence of educational institutions, rendering them even more attractive targets for cybercriminals.

Among the various threats faced, malware such as Fake Updates, Qbot, and Formbook are particularly common, with a staggering 54% of these attacks being executed through email channels.
