Google Play Store has recently discovered a staggering number of over 90 malicious apps that were cleverly disguised as various types of legitimate applications. These deceptive apps managed to deceive users and were downloaded more than 5.5 million times before being identified as harmful.
Among these malicious apps, two specific ones named PDF Reader & File Manager by TSARKA and WatchfacesQR Reader & File Manager by risovanul were identified as dangerous droppers. These apps, which were downloaded approximately 70,000 times, were found to be carriers of malware that posed a significant threat to users’ devices and personal information.
The main purpose of these malicious apps was to spread the notorious Anatsa banking trojan. This trojan specifically targeted banking applications, aiming to steal sensitive financial credentials from unsuspecting users.
