The Government of India has launched an enhanced version of the SHe-Box (Sexual Harassment e-Box) portal, a centralized digital platform designed to help women file and monitor complaints of workplace sexual harassment. Spearheaded by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, this initiative aims to provide a secure, streamlined, and accessible solution for addressing workplace harassment issues across both public and private sectors.
Key Features of the SHe-Box Portal
- Unified Platform: Women employees in any sector can file complaints, track their status, and receive updates on their resolution in real-time.
- Support for Committees: The portal integrates data and resources for Internal Committees (ICs) in private organizations and Local Committees (LCs) chaired by district magistrates for public institutions.
- Centralized Repository: It serves as a hub for all relevant information regarding workplace harassment cases and committee proceedings across the country.
- Secure Filing: Designed with confidentiality in mind, it ensures that personal information of complainants is protected during the filing and review processes.
Vision and Impact
The SHe-Box portal is aligned with the government’s broader vision of creating a safer work environment for women under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act, 2013. The initiative supports India’s goal of empowering women to lead the workforce by fostering security and inclusivity.
Union Minister Annapurna Devi emphasized that the portal is a critical step in ensuring women feel safe and supported, enabling them to thrive professionally. The platform also encourages organizations to actively uphold harassment prevention measures, contributing to a larger cultural shift toward gender equality.
Accessibility
The SHe-Box portal can be accessed at shebox.wcd.gov.in for complaint registration and monitoring.
