The pig butchering scam involves criminals using digital relationships to gain victims’ trust and convince them to invest in cryptocurrency platforms.

However, unbeknownst to the victims, the fraudsters control these platforms and will ultimately disappear with all the invested money.

This comes from Chinese expression Zhu Sai which means to slaughter a pig. It refers to the process of fattening the victim by gaining their trust and increasing their investment, before butchering them by taking all their money.
