About the Firm & The Opportunity
We are a specialized law firm focused on complex Criminal Law, Financial Crime, and Cyber Litigation. The Digital Forensics Analyst is a critical, non-lawyer technical role that provides the investigative evidence necessary to support our legal strategies and win cases.
We seek a seasoned technical expert to uncover, preserve, and analyze digital evidence (E-Discovery) from various sources. You will be instrumental in translating complex technical data into legally defensible findings for court presentation.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Essential Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Forensic Computing, Information Security, or a closely related field.
- Work Experience: A minimum of 5 to 10 years of hands-on experience in a dedicated Digital Forensics or E-Discovery role, preferably within a law enforcement agency, a Big Four firm, or a specialized litigation support company.
- Tool Proficiency:Expert proficiency in using industry-standard forensic tools such as:
- EnCase, FTK (Forensic Toolkit), X-Ways Forensics, or Cellebrite.
- E-Discovery/Review Platforms (e.g., Relativity, Nuix).
- Technical Depth: Deep knowledge of file systems, data recovery methodologies, preservation of electronic evidence (PoEE), chain of custody protocols, and analysis of network logs, mobile devices, and cloud data sources.
- Methodology: Proven experience adhering to civil and criminal legal evidentiary standards (e.g., Indian Evidence Act, IT Act) during the entire forensic process.
Preferred Skills & Attributes
- Certifications (Highly Preferred): Possessing current, recognized certifications such as Certified Forensic Examiner (CFE), EnCase Certified Examiner (EnCE), or Certified E-Discovery Specialist (CEDS).
- Expert Witness: Previous experience drafting expert reports, providing detailed technical affidavits, or testifying as a subject matter expert in court or arbitration is a strong advantage.
- Litigation Focus: Understanding of the litigation lifecycle, from legal holds to document review and production.
- Programming Skills: Basic scripting or programming skills (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation of data analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Acquisition & Preservation: Conduct forensic acquisitions (imaging) of computers, servers, mobile devices, and cloud data sources (e.g., O365, G Suite) ensuring the integrity and chain of custody.
- Forensic Analysis: Execute deep-dive analysis of electronic data to identify, extract, and document evidence related to financial fraud, cybercrime, data theft, and corporate misconduct.
- E-Discovery Management: Manage the entire E-Discovery workflow, including data processing, ingestion into review platforms, running search term filters, and coordinating with legal teams on document review.
- Reporting & Testimony: Prepare detailed, legally defensible forensic reports, affidavits, and presentations to explain complex technical findings clearly to lawyers, judges, and clients.
- Consultation: Advise legal teams on defensible data preservation strategies and the legal admissibility of electronic evidence.
