We are a highly specialized boutique law firm recognized for our success in complex Criminal Law, Cyber Law, and Financial Regulation matters. We are seeking a Senior Legal Research Analyst to join our team and provide the intellectual foundation for our high-stakes litigation and advisory work.
This is a premium role for a seasoned professional with a passion for in-depth, complex legal analysis and strategic insight. You will work on pioneering legal questions, influence case direction, and contribute to the firm’s standing as a thought leader.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Essential Qualifications
- Educational Background: LL.B. (required). An LL.M. or equivalent advanced degree, particularly in specialized areas like Cyber Law, Financial Regulation, or Intellectual Property, is highly desirable.
- Legal Experience (PQE): A minimum of 5 to 8 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in a legal research-intensive role, such as a major law firm’s knowledge management unit, a think tank, or a judicial clerkship.
- Research Mastery: Expert proficiency with all major Indian and international legal databases (Manupatra, SCC Online, Westlaw, LexisNexis) and regulatory agency websites.
- Analytical Acumen: Proven ability to synthesize vast amounts of complex legal and technical data into clear, concise, and strategic legal memoranda.
- Drafting Skills: Exceptional ability to draft professional, publication-ready research papers, white papers, and sophisticated legal opinions.
Preferred Skills & Attributes
- Specialized Domain Knowledge: Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the firm’s core practice areas: White-Collar Crime, Cyber Security/IT Act, PMLA/AML compliance, or Banking/Securities Law.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to identify emerging legal trends, jurisdictional conflicts, and gaps in statutory law that impact current or potential client matters.
- Presentation Skills: Experience presenting complex legal findings to senior management or partners.
- Independence: Capacity to lead a research project from conception through to final strategic recommendation with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- High-Level Analysis: Conduct deep-dive legal research into ambiguous or novel legal issues, focusing on statutory interpretation, legislative history, and jurisdictional comparative law.
- Strategic Memo Drafting: Prepare comprehensive legal memoranda and research reports that translate complex findings into clear, strategic recommendations for litigation and transactional matters.
- Knowledge Management: Develop and maintain the firm’s internal research resources, ensuring the team has immediate access to critical legal developments and precedent.
- Thought Leadership: Lead the drafting of firm-published white papers, articles, and client alerts on specialized legal topics, enhancing the firm’s reputation.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and training to junior researchers and analysts on advanced research techniques and tools.
